With 12 years of relentless touring behind them, the Vermont-based rock band Twiddle, comprised of Zdenek Gubb on bass and vocals, Ryan Dempsey on keyboards and vocals, Mihali Savoulidis on guitar and lead vocals, and Brook Jordan on percussion and vocals, has built a strong touring resume including Red Rocks Amphitheater, Bonnaroo, and sellouts of historic rock clubs all over the country.
PLUMP Chapters 1 & 2 (released April 28th, 2017) is the band’s third and most recent studio album. Buoyed by the generous support of 359 Kickstarter donors, the 27-song compilation does more than showcase the group’s beautiful music – it tells a genuine story. With the auspice of legendary producer Ron St. Germain on select tracks, PLUMP serves as a sonic reflection of Twiddle’s triumphs and struggles, individually and as a whole.
On Chapter 1, songs like “Lost in the Cold” and “Every Soul” convey what it’s like to hit rock bottom, with the rest of the music inspiring listeners to keep fighting, no matter how grey the forecast.
“So many fans have shared how these songs have carried them through very difficult times, and that alone makes this all worth it,” said Brook Jordan.
Chapter 2, in contrast, contains genre-bending instrumental compositions, as well as mystifying tales like “Nicodemus Portulay” and “Orlando’s.” Written more than a decade after the band’s first album, much of PLUMP Chapter 2 echoes the earliest Twiddle arrangements, when Mihali and Ryan were collaborating in the freshmen dorms of Castleton University.
The band celebrated Summer 2017 with a second successful Tumble Down, the band’s multi-night music festival on the picturesque Burlington, VT waterfront. With a special guest appearance by Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, Tumble Down provides the perfect setting for one of a kind musical collaborations.
Over the years, more people have become invigorated by Twiddle’s inspiring community, which relentlessly promotes love and positivity. So many like-minded people believe in the greater good, as exemplified by the group’s affiliate 501c3 charitable organization, the White Light Foundation. Through fundraising and community initiatives, the WLF gives back to countless local organizations close to Twiddle’s heart and soul.
